"MONTANA INDIAN MINISTRIES"
2007 PowWow Season Summary

"The question is really very simple. How do we reach the Native Americans in Montana with the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ and help them come into the Kingdom of God? God has a plan. My heart's goal is to hear His plan, understand that plan, and do all I can to help the implementation of God's plan - a plan that He has especially designed for reaching the Indians of Montana."

Several years ago after hearing a challenge message given by Henry Blackaby where he made the statement, "the next great revival in America will begin with the Native Americans" (Indians), I wrote the above introductory statement to a paper on working with Montana Indians.

I accepted the challenge to do my part to make this come true. Then, after much prayer came the PowWow Ministry - a direct result of my praying and listening to God. It is a solid step in the process of reaching Montana Indians with the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ. From the onset, I knew that this ministry would be a servant's heart ministry: Let us show you that we love you.

In 2007, Montana Indian Ministries attended eight different Powwows on three different Indian Reservations in Montana. We had ten mission teams from fifteen (15) different churches help us. Twelve of the fifteen churches were from out-of-state. We had a total of ninety-one (91) people from out-of-state and twenty one (21) people from in-state help us minister to the eleven tribes in Montana.

The total attendance of the eight Powwows we worked at was approximately thirty-seven thousand (37,000) - mostly Indians. We handed out thirty thousand (30,000) bottles of water and approximately one hundred (100) gallons of very good coffee. We picked up tons (yes, tons) of plain old common trash in a true servant's heart ministry. We did not have a pickup and trailer big enough to hold all the thank you's and gratitude we received. We were even asked to attend a number of feeds on the Powwow grounds. It is a privilege to be asked to eat a meal at the camp of an Indian family. We all ate lots of food from buffalo and deer to fry bread and crackers. We slept and worked in sunshine (100 plus degrees) to almost freezing temperatures (40 degrees). Ask the people from The Metropolitan Baptist Church in Houston, they will verify the freezing part.

The truly exciting part was the reality that we handed out almost two thousand (2,000) contextually relevant Christian tracks. Conservatively, we had one thousand five hundred (1,500) one-on-one opportunities to share the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ. We gave out several hundred new EvangeCube - after they could tell us the story using the cube. We had a total of fifty seven (57) onsite salvations with the first being a young Indian boy whose last name was Thunder Child. We had much thunder and many summer storms and even a tornado over the course of the Pow Wow season. Our camp and much equipment were destroyed several times. We simply rebuilt the camp and started over. Each gospel sharing occurrence and salvation that followed was so very precious.

Henry Blackaby also made this statement, "God has a way. . . when He has a heart committed to believe Him." In 2007, we had a combined team of one hundred twelve (112) committed hearts from all parts of the United States that came to realize that, "God had a way. . ." to reach over fifty percent (50%) of Montana Indians with the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ. Awesome! Fantastic! Incredible! Wow! "Ada Pinamaya" (thank you Father)
